Warehouse/Production
Some examples of work include -
- Painting hollow metal doors, frames, and door lite kits. We use rollers and sprayers depending on the size of the job.
- Inventory counts of all warehouse parts and materials
- Deliveries to various job sites with a company vehicle including pickup trucks, trailers, delivery vans, and box trucks
- Receiving and stocking of hardware, doors, and frames
- Moving door hardware components to various areas of production within our warehouse
- Material pickup from various suppliers
- General warehouse cleaning and organizing
-Unloading shipments with a pallet jack or hilo
- Assisting with our service team when needed
-Carpentry skills are useful for various woodworking tasks
-Welding opportunities available
Hours and Benefits:
Work hours are 7:30AM to 4:00PM with occasional overtime as needed. All positions will start their day at our business location, vehicles are provided as needed from there.
Benefits include paid holidays, health insurance, disability and term/life insurance, dental and vision insurance, bonus pay, and retirement plans. These become available upon 90 days employement.
Locksmith
Training is done on site, no prior experience is required.
Work is performed in shop as well as on the road.
Some examples of road work will include:
· Emergency vehicle openings
· Residential and Commercial door openings
· Installation of lock cylinders and cylindrical locksets in various commercial settings based on blueprints
· Residential and Commercial re-keying
· Repair and service of locksets, lock cylinders, and door hardware
· Changing and repairing electronic lock combinations
Shop work would include –
· Key cutting and duplication including operation of various types of key cutting machines, grinders, and power tools
· Key system management and record keeping
· Designing new key systems based on customer provided key schedules and blueprints
· Fulfilling work orders from various businesses
The ideal candidate would have the following abilities:
· Operate hand tools, power tools and grinders
· Basic computer knowledge using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Ability to lift and carry medium to heavy objects
Door Installation
Our installers are responsible for installation of wood and hollow metal frames and doors, various types of door and locking hardware including exit devices, door closers, window kits, and more. Daily work includes loading up hardware and materials in the morning, traveling to the assigned site location, and reporting back to our project managers once a job is completed.
Job training and tools are provided. We also provide a cell phone, company card, and vehicle once initial training is complete. Overtime is typically available but is dependent on work load for the week.
Fisher Door typically services the Grand Rapids area but travels all over Michigan and the surrounding states. All travel costs including gas, food, and hotels for out of state and/or overnight work are covered. Candidates must have a clean and valid driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
We do not require previous knowledge of door installation. The ideal candidate would have the following:
- Ability to lift and move objects 50+ pounds
- Experience with hand and power tools including angle grinders, Drill/Driver, jig saws, circular saws. Prior knowledge in any construction trade is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work and complete tasks individually and working together to complete projects as team.
Project Management
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor sub-contractors and vendors
• Strong knowledge in General Trades (i.e., carpentry, doors, frames, hardware & millwork installation)
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees
• Communicate well with Accounting, Estimating, Human Resources, Coordinator, and Management to assure a safe and successful project
• Construction Management degree is preferred, but not required
• Strong understanding of construction and construction management process from start to finish
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills is a must (i.e. – Microsoft, Google Drive, Accounting software and Estimating software)
• Ability to work well with others and with a team
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of recent Commercial Construction work experience
• Excellent inter-personal skills, communication skills and team-based project experience
• Computer skills, efficiency with Microsoft Office product suite
